Donald Trump on Terrorism

Trump speech following the Orlando tragedy
Manchester, NH, June 13, 2016

While he believes in minimizing civilian casualties generally, Trump advocates targeting the families of ISIS terrorists.

DONALD TRUMP: “I would knock the hell out of 'em. I like to do one thing at a time. I would knock the hell out of ISIS. I would hit them, I would hit them, Brian, so hard, like they've never been hit before.”

BRIAN KILMEADE: “What about civilian casualties? What about the fact that we're targeting them and people are very concerned about collateral damage?”

TRUMP: “I would do my best, absolute best. I mean one of the problems that we have and one of the reason that we're so ineffective is, you know, they're trying to – they're using them as shields. It's a horrible thing. They're using them as shields. But we're fighting a very politically correct war.

And the other thing is, with the terrorists, you have to take out their families. When you get these terrorists, you have to take out their families. They care abut their lives, don't kid yourself. But when you say they don't care about their lives, you have to take out their families.”

2 December, 2015: Trump is interviewed on “Fox & Friends” (4:26 – 5:09)

Trump claims that in his book, “The America We Deserve”, he predicted the attacks of 9/11. He believes that he has an “instinct” for terrorism.

DONALD TRUMP: “Well, in my book, I talk about that. In my book, I predicted terrorism, cause I can feel it, I can feel it like I feel good location – okay? - in real estate. My father always used to tell people, 'you know, he may be my son, but everything he touches turns to gold.' When my father said that, that was a great compliment, 'cause he was a tough cookie. But he said, and he said, 'he has an instinct for location.' You have an instinct about things. I really believe I have an instinct for this kind of thing. And I see what's happening. And when I said Osama bin Laden, that was a great thing. When I said terrorism, in the same book – now, they really like my books much better when I talk about business and success and things like that, those are the books that are all the best-sellers. This book was probably my least-selling book, and yet it was, in a certain way, pretty cool. But I love that book. But I loved what the predictions are. And a friend of mine called me up there, they said, 'forget about Osama bin Laden. In that book, you predicted terrorism! Nobody knew this kind of terrorism before.' But I felt it. And you have to have somebody that has an instinct to lead this country.”

13 November, 2015: Trump speaking at Tennessee’s Knoxville Convention Center (1:52 – 2:55)
