Martin Hahn was born in Hillsboro, Oregon amidst difficult circumstances. He spent his childhood in and out of foster homes until the age of 17, when he moved in with his mother in Portland. He attended a variety of schools during his academic career, including Mount Hood Community College, Oregon Polytechnic Institute, and Willamette Carpenter's Training Center.|
An Independent candidate, Hahn is critical of both the Republican and Democrat parties, accusing them of fighting with one another rather than actually getting things done. He is frustrated with the performance of President Obama, saying he is unable to get either party on his side and can only make progress by threatening both parties. He places great emphasis on the importance of voting, and asks every citizen to contribute in the democratic process.
Hahn supports big business and argues that it is crucial to the functioning of the economy, but criticizes politicians for selling out to corporate interests. He argues that it is important to vote for an Independent as a means of taking back control of government.
